Invited guest : My family, M - the pole dancer @ Athena's 5th BD party, K - my Japanese neighbour. But she didn't turn up in the end.sob..sob...

Food catered for 12, which is just nice. We still had a little leftover after that

I bought these macha mochi & red bean. SIL told me "that's what the Japanese eat today". Yes! She didn't have to tell me, I knew it and infact deliberately prepared this coz' I was expecting K. Also, was prepared to cook soba. But she didn't turn up so I didn't cook. Well, I could have prepared soba for my family... but we're not Japanese.
Log cake?? I was expecting a normal cake since it's already past Xmas. But the cake's nice. It's blueberry, very light very good for diet plans.
To think that I forgot about the cake provided, I went to buy Tiramisu from Gastronomia. Argh!
The cutleries were prepared. I'm so proud of this.
Red wine but no takers

Athena played the violin while I played the piano. Oops! I forgot the left hand chords.

Then M, decided she needed to earn extra bucks turned to >>

basking!! exploiting a small boy as a helper.

It's only 10+, everyone's tired. Ah doh.........that's why we had a dinner what! To do countdown, but I can't blame it if I had old folks who can hardly keep their eyes open; young children who don't seem to tire but in actual fact are. So sad... no choice we opened the champagne much earlier.

Cheers!

I spent the next 2 hours ushering the new year >> CLEANING!!! Siao ay!

Cleaned the table; kept extra food; kept my fountain; kept all the disposable cutleries and plates (on top of fridge) back into the box in storeroom. Finally the eye-sore is gone!! Otherwise my house looks messy.
KZ helped me too, brought down all the decorations. I'm still thinking if I should put up the CNY decorations. So sian leh....

So what is New Year? When you're younger, you hang around with friends to usher in the New Year. When you're older, somehow automatically your eyes can't open.; brain shutdown for the night. The adrenaline is not there anymore. you just want to sleep hoping that sleep will make you forget that you're a year older and one more year closer to retirement. For us, with children, we give the excuse that the children needs to sleep so I better go home sooner.
My neighbours - one household actually had a party. I don't know to say I miss those crazy parties or not but I think it's cool just to shout across the flat "HAPPY NEW YEAR", whether you're tipsy or not. I only felt that they were stupid and scaredy cat to quickly draw the curtains. I mean, want to be happy, just be happy lah! I recall the time I was in Manchester... sigh....fun time in the pub with strangers.

At 1+, everyone (hubby and children) were snoring. KZ and myself were busy keeping the place, I scrubbed the grout (where the tree was) area, my place finally feel clean. Other than that,it was a quiet NEW YEAR for me. So what is New Year to me? It means I better stop snowballing my resolution and go on a diet. I hope I can really slim down.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
