Japanese strawberries

Saw these strawberries in Isetan NEX. Only paid $12.90 as I have a $10 Isetan voucher. It’s still more expensive than what we pay in Japan. *pout lips*

Amaou strawberry from FUK. (I miss FUK) I had to meet che-che here. And she tells me she misses FUK too, hinted to me ''July is in 5 months time 🤭.''

Last Dec when we were in Japan, che-che told me that the best strawberry is from FUK, the best mikan is from Wakayama. I thought it’s funny COZ SHE DOESNT EAT FRUITS AT ALL!

They look red but somehow over the years I notice the seeds don’t look like Japanese strawberries anymore. All breed here and there until strawberries become mix breed.

I've never paid much attention to strawberries when I see them in Donki or Meidi-ya or Cold Storage. To me, I can't seem to get the sweet taste japanese and korean strawberries for the last 10 years or more. I only want to eat strawberries when I'm in Japan or in Europe. But since I'm on the topic on strawberries, here is a comparison between 3 strawberries. Click HERE

Compared to the one we bought in Kobe in Dec 24

Benihoppe strawberries from Aichi Prefecture.
愛知の紅ほつべ
Paid ¥798 for this. I should eat as much strawberries as I can whenever I see them.

Bought these Yayoihime strawberries in Kamakura for ¥800. Very sweet, very nice

Yayoi Hime is a strawberry born in Gunma prefecture that was registered as a variety in 2005 (Heisei 17). It was born by cultivating by crossing  the prefecture's

"Tonehoppe" with Tochigi's "Tochiotome," and then crossing the resulting variety with "Tonehoppe" again. To get a clearer mathematical equation to this cross here cross there a crossdresser strawberry,  it's :

[Tone Hoppe x Tochiotome] x Tone Hoppe.

With an aroma and taste similar to Tochiotome, it's now the main variety of strawberry in Gunma Prefecture, accounting for about 80% of the region's strawberry shipments. Although strawberry season typically runs from December to March, Yayoihime strawberries are harvested in Gunma until June.

Yayoi Hime has an average fruit weight of 20g and is characterized by large grains and an elegant light red color. The flesh is firm and has a light red color to the inside. It is a sweet strawberry with an excellent balance of sweetness (high sugar content) and acidity and a long shelf life.

There were so many stalls near Arakurayama Sengen Park selling strawberries, all with different varieties. Honestly I’m not sure if I should say I’m lucky I didn’t take pictures of every different strawberries, I would have been more confused and this blog entry will have no ending. Haha!

Yuubeni strawberries from Kumamoto

Yuu Beni has a firm smooth texture and sweet berry scent which enhance your taste buds. In addi-tion, its low acidity which makes the berry sweet and delectable.

It's aesthetically beautiful appearance makes it attractive and are usually used as gifts or cake decorations.

Seriously or not? All benefits mentioned 'weight loss' 😂 If it really works, I'll ignore the sour horrible strawberries I can get in SIN and just eat punnets and punnets of strawberries.

I'm getting so tired with this post now, so will simply plonk whatever things Ifound out.

Why did the post only appear now?

I could have more Korean Won if this article came into my FB yesterday or days before. Why show me now?

I just changed S$1000 to get exactly KW1,000,000

I was surprised that it’s already on par, as in KW1000 = S$1. But coz I haven’t checked the exchange rate recently just knew that SGD is weakening, so assumed that’s the reason why. But today I realised it wasn’t the best rate. In the first place I didn’t know there were 2 more other money changers in Parkway as stated in the article (?). I often change with them. Now that I know I can check in this website : cashchanger to compare the rates and find out where to go. However I’m lazy and wont 🚗 deliberately drive to somewhere just to get the best rate. I add the petrol and parking fees may not be worth it. I changed in Parkway today as I was there for my lash appointment.

A check today

If I had KW19,000 extras, might be able to buy 5-6 떡볶이 tteokbokki 😂.

But oh well, I guess I win some and lose some. This is what I have in my millionaire Revolut account 🤪 - S$1961.78

Youtrip do not have KW in its wallet currency. But coz I’m using Revolut that supports 33 (32) stored wallet, KW is in the list

With about S$2500 I think should be enough, or maybe more than enough. I will keep the extras for sure, coz during the research while planning itinerary I realised Seoul is actually not bad a place to go, has the interesting historical buildings and wall.

***************

Additional post about multi-currency card. Revolut exchange rate is not as good as Youtrip, but coz I chose to stand out from the 3 of them, I went for Revolut instead 😆.

OCD - word too often being abused wrongly

Too often people like to say “coz I’m OCD”, “the OCD me ……”

STOP USING THIS unless you are diagnosed with OCD. OCD people go through a lot of compulsive behaviour. I just want to tell my friends off but it will mean I will have more enemies instead.

Home sweet home. What a way to end this trip. A380 flight for the lil' one.

Can't go upstairs. Sad... and then she said we had to take SQ's A380 next time, so that when I bump into my ex-colleagues I can go up. Oh... so clever hor?

9th Feb 2012

Tired and slept while doing her HW. I'm always battling this everyday, worst when it's on Thursdays. I bring Mei-Mei in for her class. She's left to do her work unsupervised (n nobody to nudge her awake) ; then rush home to get mei-mei ready for abacus n she either hv to follow me (if hubby not in sin) or stay at home while left unsupervised again for 30mins n most times I'm more grumpy coz she end up dozing off n finishing HW till late in the night.

9th Feb 2012

Do you know that using the less shiny side of the aluminium foil (baking foodstuffs) allows the food to better absorb heat n thus cook faster?

I learnt something new today.

9th Feb 2011

Lily is studying. Can't believe this! Sitting in Macs relooking into the complicating Maths model & P3

Science. "conifers, epiphytes" - what the?? So chim.

Did we study this in P3? That's the thing about not outsourcing to enrichment centres.

9th Feb 2011

cont'd: Good thing che-che loved to read general stuffs, so she had knowledge of "photosynthesis" even before teacher teach them. She has good memory, can remember useful (educational) and non-useful (shopping, driving directions) things so always able to link things here and there. She told me she likes science. Good! The last thing I'd like to do is to kill her interest in this subject.

9th Feb 2011
