Febrile fits

In KKH now.

That one febrilt fits threw me and KZ into a frenzy fit as well. I was confused if I should send her to the doctor or KKH or simply stay at home. I thought I am well prepared and know what to do... but I'm not. I couldn't calm down. KZ was crying, I didn't cry but was about to until I told myself to remain calm. Looked at the clock. It is sad to see a happy active child suddenly clenched up, wanted to cry but only one can cry at a time; the other had to remain sober to think.
The second hand made only 2 rounds before she regained consciousness. In total it was around 3 minutes (considering the time KZ called out to me). She wasn't that drowsy at all this time round but still -
In the end, I thought I'd just head straight to KKH since it's been only less than a month ago she was warded in. No joke! And under that unexplained situation on how she suddenly fitted. She was having her lunch and clap that one time to " If you're happy and you..." and fell on her face and stiffed. KZ brought her to the sofa to lie down and calling out to me. Err.......she said she called out loud but it's not. All I heard was "mum, mum Aricia Aricia"- and it was soft. I thought she had asked me to come out to see Aricia dancing or whatever so I ignored twice. She kept quiet then, I finished my editing and decided to walk out to check on her. Never did I expect to see my girl lying down and not dancing to the music.

Was it sore throat? Athena complained her throat was sore yesterday morning so I can only think it was passed to her. Nope! It's not. Hubby said "maybe it's viral that was never cleared since that time?" Huh?
There aren't any A-class left so we're on waitlist. Meantime they put her in B1. Hubby said I should tell them "I transfer to another hospital" coz' that's what he did the first time and they tried to find for one. He suggested another silly thing "bring her to a private hospital." I was confused, there he was saying that his two children are high maintenance children; then on the other hand, he suggested to go private. I'm thinking where? Mt E? He kept asking me to ask them about specialists. To them they still feel it's bloody common so why this parent still insist on a specialist, and create such a big boohah over it. I think I know how hubby feels, though complaining about high $$$ spent but when it comes to children he wouldn't bat an eyelid. Even if it means he stubbornly refuse to see his chest specialist for his heavy cough to maybe save the $$ for his children??

Dr Choong, who was seeing her, still say there's no need for EEG or LP but she falls in the high frequency type. If... years down the road she still has fits then they'll do tests.
Interesting Reads as I searched on Dr Choong's name : Story 1 Epilepsy Care

Things that left me confused, since the discharge Ari had fever twice at home (this is the 3rd). There were records of 39.something and this time round is only 38.7 - the highest and she fitted. Dr Choong mentioned that if it's increasing gradually, but in her case it probably spiked up from a normal temperature so the fits came.
She's going to give me something to insert in her anus-didn't tell me name but think it should be diazepam
This time it should be URTI, coz' now they see some redness in her throat but no antibiotics. Perfer to let it go on its own and let the child drink more water.

Recalling the incident
- I think it's carelessness again. I was sponging her awhile, let her have her lunch and will continue later + give her her Nurofen. I should have sponged her, having an empty stomach is better than fitting.
- I forgot about the fever suppository Dr Tan gave.
- When we were calm, I told KZ that I couldn't hear her. "Everytime you talk very loud, laugh so loud. Suddenly I can't hear you." Anyway, call it 'making a molehill out of nothing', I told her that we should have a code to shout coz' I thought she was asking me to see Aricia dancing. Like maybe shout "mum, Aricia fall down (or something else)" then I know she threw into fits.

Discharge?
Although she hasn't had any fever since last evening, they still want her to be warded for observation. While I was so bloody worried about her getting exposed to more germies. Ehh.... one boy next bed is coughing like mad - bronchiolitis.

No room
Ai yah, suffering like crazy (although it was KZ who slept overnight) now coz' we're still on wait list for our room. No privacy, no peace..

Finger prick
She wailed and kicked the technician. The aftermath from her; from the prick was the longest in the room. Yanked the plaster out, changed twice and it was still bleeding. She was never resting, her heart was pumping blood fast so it oozed out more. The blood on the mattress and pillow is more than what they had collected. Yah! It's not them noisy in the room but she!

Little Miss Friendly
She yaks and yaks in sentences ; showing funny expression at the same time. She "talks" to everyone in the room but nobody's paying attention to her. She calls out to di-di but everybody in their own world. Hee!

Small size
They see her, tell me they are more concerned about her size. In my heart, I am more concerned about the fits.

Valium
Confirmed it's valium, and I have to give it to her once she has a fit. Then still must make it back to the hospital. Sigh....if its a frequent 'hotel' visit, I'd rather we go for C class. Otherwise hubby may use up the money there and I can't go on holidays anymore.

Oh my... thanks for the concern over my blog.. and sorry to hear that ur girl kenna fits as well..

I think you must have freak out, Aricia's fits really come so suddenly!! My girl was drowsy before having fits and somehow my hubby anticipated it, thus not so bad at all.

My husband read on KKH website saying that fits will occur when temp is 38.5 and above or like Dr Choon had said (temp rise too quickly). I am lucky that she didn't suffer fits on sat cos her temp was like 39-40 for the whole day.

Why don't you get a hospital insurance policy for her. I think I got AIA Pink of health for my girl when she is 3mths old. The previous time she was warded, hospital fees including pre and post examination were claimed back. On top of it, we got $400 (5 days hospitalization) income benefits + $100 (get well benefit). Well, I was lucky to get the policy before they change some terms in their policy.

You can read up their brochure at http://www.aia.com.sg/360/POH_Eng.pdf

I can introduce my AIA agent if you are interested! She is really a nice lady doing all our policies (with heart)!

Keep me posted on your girl's recovery. Take care of yourself too! :)
