Greed or plain stupidity?

I'm glad that Ronald Emmanuel Emeka was arrested for cheating the innocent people.

But on the other hand, I'm aghast that people can fall into such traps
- Man loses $48,000 in Nigerian e-mail scam

Is it pure greed or plain stupidity? Nothing comes free in this world, you gotta work hard to reap your results. I hope people can wise up a little, well to be wiser than tricksters!
