Aricia

Haven't been blogging much about my lil' girl.

Lil' girl is now 2 years, 3 months (exactly)and .... (oops! forgot to bake a cake) her achievements so far. She's yakking more and she describes what happens to you in broken words. For eg : she fell down and then she starts narrating to me
Ari : mummy... ah sher fall
Me : You fell? How did you fall?
Ari : Fall down. *pause* Fish (points to fridge) bom fall down
Me : How did you fall?
Ari : Door open *pause* bom fall down... ah sher. Head head (points to head) *pause* pain... floor (points to floor)
Me : How did the door open? Did you play with the door?
Ari : (think she either didn't understand or trying to evade the question) bom fall down, head pain...(trying to laugh it off) floor
Me : Can you tell mummy where did you fall?
Ari : (points to one wrong spot) head kong floor
Me : Did you hit your backside?
Ari : (points to backside) backside floor. Ah sher fall... (laughing)

Can you guess what happened? Apparently she was holding onto our freezer door and then it opened. So we had a flying Aricia who swung together with the door and then she let go and fell on the floor.
We can vividly guess what happens in her conversation with us. But I think at this age she should be speaking in a fuller sentence. No? If yes, then I must say she is slow.
No doubt my girl starts speaking early, she has this problem with her enunciation of words. I make her speak word for word to correct her and then asks her to repeat, she makes the mistake again. Eg. I love you mummy. She says ah shiu mummy. Too playful to listen to me? Or is there really a problem with her speech?

PR Consultant
She's real good as a PR Consultant, bring her out for a while everyone looks at her and find her charmingly cute. Yah, don't deny she's cute but is very tiring to care for her.
Just a mere 3 mins while I buy takeaway from a counter, she 'talked' to 1 table of ladies.
She's not shy, she's not afraid of strangers (unless she wakes up from the wrong side of the cot that morning) and will yak to them what she's doing/eating. She always make it a point too to say hello and goodbye to the security guard at Springleaf. Next term, we'll be moving to HHub.

Miss Moody/ Miss Timid
But there are the rare days when she refuses to say hello to anyone when I tell her to. There are the rare days when she will not share her food with strangers.
Think she's a fiesty girl? She's got that timid side of her too. Bring her to shows in malls, she'll get so excited and start waving hands to the characters. But when doing the photo-taking, she's scared. Timid!

Another problem is us trying to toilet-train her. It's very difficult! She'd rather sit down and do nothing, all the whistling on our part don't help. And then she starts playing and turning around the seat and then refuse to pee/poo. Honestly speaking, I don't have the patience to sit down in the toilet and stare at her and listen to her sharp voice yakking so I assigned KZ to do it for me. Must admit and big thanks to KZ, who loves Aricia so endearingly, she does help me but really it's no use. I never had such problem with Athena. Athena was so obedient although that time I would have said she's naughty, now as I compare the 2 of them, Athena is definitely more 'guai'. I brought Athena to the seat and tell her she tries, listens and did it. And managed to wean her off diapers early. No problem with night time too, she was diaper-less and managed to remain dry.
Recently what KZ tried was to strip her off diapers in the house (that is when she's in the house whole day) and bring her to the toilet, she refuse - not even one drop. Then when she's urgent and needs to go, Aricia tells "poo poo" - yah, she says poo poo for pee pee and poo poo - bring her in also refuse. Twice she managed to drop one pathetic drop of urine in the toilet bowl and she was screaming. Then there's the time when she's really urgent, she just pee-ed and then she started crying out (she feels funny with urine on her legs) loud.

Bottle
Goash! We tried weaning her off the bottle a very long time ago but she keeps deliberately turn the bottle upside down and dirty the floor/cabinets etc..
Sad to say, at 2 years 3 months - she's still using her bottle. But then she has no problem drinking from cup when we assists her.

Self-Feeding
She can do it but makes a terrible big mess. Plays with her food and refuse to swallow food in her mouth
