CNY

Thank goodness we decided not to do anything for 初二. Saves the trouble for us, no need to shop for groceries, no need to join in the long queue at checkout counters. It was really terrible two Fridays ago when we dropped by NEX just to get daily necessities. The crowd and queue will only get worst this week, so I’m avoiding the supermarkets like a plague. Made plans not to cook for this week so I don’t have to pop by supermarket.

The crowd is absolutely crazy! To think that people still like to get pushed about; smelling each other’s perspiration in Chinatown.

Reason for not hosting this year
Anyway, I told hubby
(1) we often get too much leftovers that we have to keep eating to finish the 料 for the next week or more. Who wouldn’t get sick of it?
(2) so tiring to prepare. Tho it’s steamboat, the prep takes a lot of cutting and cleaning. And I’d like to prepare dessert too (to make sure they’re well-fed). Do you know how messy my small kitchen is? Not to mention the cleaning and clearing after. And the ** as explained further below

With the decision not to host, I also didn’t buy any CNY goodies which always end up being discarded coz nobody eats. With the decision not to host, I’m more relaxed than before.

** Stalls are usually open on 初二 , so we won’t go hungry. I definitely won’t be cooking whether with Thermie  or not as it means I’ll need to jostle with the crowds just to get my groceries now. Anyway, we have a BK opposite us. A bread and some quick bites vending machine in our compound. We even have ramen we bought from Japan. Yup! 饿不了. So why 自找麻烦?
