Nervous

20th March (Thu)

Appointment was made to do a routine health check and blood test at Raffles coz I had to upgrade my life insurance. This time coz of mom’s renal problem, the insurance company requires me to do some tests before they can approve this. If not, I think my premium will be higher?

Did a urine test before I had other measurements done, eye sight test, and some breathing thing where she measured chest expansion. She asked me to exhale as much as I can to get at least “10cm”, not that I can see the measuring tape on me. I exhale until I got nothing to exhale already, I exhale simi? The second time I did, I tried to inhale as much (but with a fat nostril now how much can I inhale 🤣) as I could so have enough to exhale. Haha! Dunno what stupid logic I’m thinking.

Eye sight test
Both nurse and (later) doctor said it’s better that I go a get glasses done, coz at certain small prints I really couldn’t see. Please lah! who sees a print that is probably 3mm at the distance I’m standing? I told them honestly I felt no need for me at this moment. I did my lasik in 2001 while still in SQ but over the years with me facing the screen, my degree is not that perfect anymore.
It doesn’t affect my daily life, it doesn’t affect my driving coz all signs are huge I don’t need to see super small letters or numbers.

When I went back to wait for the doctor, the nurse told me my urine test came back normal. No idea what they were testing for but glad it came back okay.

Doctor assessment
Blood pressure - normal. Reassuring to know that. At this age, I’m turning 50 this year, it can be worrisome if I suddenly have high blood pressure. Really must watch what I eat. Thankfully I’m not a person who would not eat all the fatty stuffs except when I was on keto 😀. I don’t eat a lot and although sometimes I love to eat snacks, I know when to stop. So I hope I can continue to have a normal blood pressure thru my alive years.

Doctor did a body checkup and then took my blood. First time I saw my blood so dark red. 😅 Last time I drew my blood it was a nicer dark red, now it looks so dark maroon red. For the context, I think it has something to do with O2 level.

After
After the test was done, I was naturally nervous and worried about the result.

8 days later (28th) sis asked me about my blood test. I only saw her message 2 days later 😬. Then I remembered I did a blood test, guess over the next few days after the test I gradually forgot about it. I was busy so was distracted, which is good coz it makes me not to think and worry too much. Told sis  I wasn’t sure but wouldn’t want to receive phonecall with bad news from friend lor… but doubt it’ll take that long with the blood test. The clinic won’t let me know anything coz they will submit straightaway to Prudential. So I guess no news means it’s good news.

On 30th mid morning (just about 8-9hrs after my last message to her), I awoke to a message about a premium deduction of the new amount. So that means it went thru, that means my blood test came back clear. Yay!

Still, at this age I really need to be careful of what goes into my body. I hope I will be more active (exercise more)  and I need to lose some pounds. Have to think too about peri-menopausal period, I’m around the age to get it, and make some lifestyle changes.
