If I cooked dinner the day before, I’d usually cook extra so that she can pack for school.
Mad rush in the morning coz still need to dish out her 第二片的花生根田七 for her to drink. ASoak the slow cooker with hot water etc..send her to school.

もう一つの早朝……🥱
Wasn’t going to be a hardworking mom (but hey! None of my friends with our kids same age pack food for their kids anymore! So I do deserve some appreciation.) so cooked her somen last night. Ran out of かまぼこ. Aiyoh! [went Century Sq on Tuesday but J-Mart is closed!Argh!! Why J-Mart also close outlets? At least give me a Japanese mart I can go nearby lah!]
23rd Jan (Thu)
Kept aside some 卤肉 and 手羽先 from last night’s dinner. Steamed the rice and meat together while I popped the chicken in the oven. Alas! I was too over- zealous and wanted to expedite the baking and adjusted high temperature and the two drumsticks charred 😂.
27th Jan (Mon)
Went back to school coz the department switched their HBL today to Friday, so they get to be home for the next 3 1/2 days for the week and 1 more day of HBL next Monday. Woah! Can they don’t go back to school and just do HBL?
We went 拜拜 yesterday and SIL gave this 盆菜 to us amongst other things. 我们每次手空空的去、满满的回。Always giving us the food, though I appreciate her kind gesture, it’s always alot alot. The girls don’t eat, I don’t eat all things except the mushroom in 盆菜。

I love last week! Had a break from cooking for 2 days.
Lazy cooking today. Miso soup and dump chicken + scallop + udon. Gao dim sai 👍
5th Feb (Wed)
Haven’t cooked this for a long time,
More than 2yrs! Cooked the night before. Fried penne coz I ran out of macaroni. I hardly look up into the cabinet above the stove coz it’s high and I’m so lazy to grab the organ stool to climb on it. That’s where the pasta and abalone are kept. Ahh… I forgot we even have pasta bought from Boston !! Just as I’m typing this today, I’m so missing Boston.
Fried penne with chicken sausage. Thankfully not much oil splatters on the kitchen top so cleaning up was easy.
When I was almost done with the fried penne che-che asked what I was doing and said that I should have cooked extra for her to bring to work the next day. But I remember that she didn’t like this last time. Too late! I was almost done with the cooking and not going to re-cook another batch. I’m so tired, I was already looking forward to my last shower for the day and lay my tired body on the bed.
Done! Transferred into this takeout box and fridged it once it cools down. Will re-fry it in the pot tomorrow morning.
6th Feb (Thu)
Needed to clear the grouper so decided to cook porridge for her. I didn’t have any rice from last night dinner (coz I didn’t cook!) to steam the fish.
Just as I started to soak the grinded rice, big mouse came into the kitchen pretending open the fridge. She came to spy on me and asked what I was cooking. She wanted porridge too! Muahaha! Now I’m beginning to feel that I’m going to start bento-ing for two girls for the next 2 months.
Che-che is posted to another office for 2 months and she said makan place is so far away. When I probed on her going out lunch with colleagues, she says she goes alone coz everyone’s lunch time is different. Oh….so sad…. so lonely. 好吧!好人做到底。
Porridge is ready. I think I must be a genius in cooking porridge, it tastes yummy. Oh! My mee hoon kueh and fried rice too! Hahaha! Now I can cook fried rice for the two of them to bring to school / work. But ah….I will probably only pack for che-che the days I pack for lil’ one to make it easier for myself. I think only. Let’s see in my upcoming posts if I did my motherly fair-treatment duty.
I wanted to simply put the big container in the rightful pink bag and let lil’ one use the Kiki’s bag as her container is shorter and can fit in there.

This morning when I woke up I saw another bag on the kitchen top. I swear this wasn’t there today and it isn’t below the sink 😂, I kept it aside in bomb shelter coz lil’ one didn’t like this bag. It was che-Che who willingly trekked across the little mountains 山 of stuffs on the bomb shelter floor to reach for this bag. 🤣 #aslongassheishappy#

Intended to add in che-che’s share of lunch but last minute she informed she would be working from home. In the end, only needed to settle lil’ one.
Lazy lunch bought from Mcs last evening 🤣. Heated this morning.
12th Feb (Wed)
Cooked last night, before cleaning up the kitchen
Was taking ingredients out for dinner when I saw the container of pork belly with only 6-7 strips remaining from our CNY sukiyaki / steamboat meal. Cleared them.
Re - heat this morning. I’ll usually cook extra rice the previous dinner so it’s easier for me. LAZY so must find an easier alternative.

Container is too tall for che-che’s bag that I had to use safety pins to pin the bag 🤣.
13th Feb (Thu)
Due to this blur mother the day before (12th), small hiccups to original plan. When I was frying the mince chicken, the big mouse aka Inspector Ting came out of her room to do her inspection rounds. 😂. Not knowing that if I included her share for next day’s lunch she peeped at my dish. 🤣 Coz it was a small portioned pack of minced chicken (I usually portioned out small amount of meat everytime I reach home so that I can defrost what I need instead of the whole pack) left. I had the intention to fry 2 eggs for her and give her a small portion of chicken. Told Inspector Ting that I will cook plain porridge instead of rice. She started requesting “Can! Can you also cook egg porridge instead of plain porridge?”
Sigh…..😮💨 if I knew I was going to cook egg porridge, I would have saved my trouble and dump the mince chicken in the porridge. Make my kitchen oily from the oil splatters.
Middle row left : the bag she wants to use can barely fit the 2-tier thermos container, therefore her 2 additional eggs (she didn’t know how many I was going to fry for her) has to go into a separate container. It won’t be kept warm until lunch for sure. Muahaha! Really just 2 tsp of chicken for her.
If only lil’ one likes fried egg I would have given them equal share of mince chicken. So don’t say I’m 偏心.
If I can, I will accommodate to packing lunch for her when I’m packing for lil’ one. I can’t pack 5 days a week for sure, lao niang is too tired to do that. Will only pack when she’s in this office. The other office has lots of makan places around so I don’t care.
Whatever has happen to my “I can’t wait to stop packing their food for them” mentality? I guess coz there’s only this period of time where I can do this much for them as a mother. When I look back next time when I’m in my 60s 70s I don’t regret for not doing so. I hope they understand too how limited their mom’s capability is due to ‘early wake up and still need to send them to school after that’ tiredness / pacing myself. No need to geh-kiang but still can’t starve my kids.

Packed Korean fishcake + the soup base it came with the packet
Udon cooked and separated from the soup. She can put that into the thermos flask when she’s eating.
She came home saying the soup is really nice, she slurped up every drop. Of course nice lah! MSG inside.
19th Feb (Wed)
Packed only che-che’s lunch coz last minute lil’ one told me they can be dismissed from school earlier
Cooking rice at 10.01pm 🤨 the previous night (18th)
Will be silly to cook just 50g or (maybe even lesser) rice, so I cooked 400g which is the max in Thermomix. Typically 400g serves 4-5 person.
Dishes for che-che’s lunch. Her leftover tempura from Donki and the sotong paste in yutiao.
She wanted to pack this furikake, bought from recent trip. Noticed she’s been able to eat a little spice lately.
Left it in slow cooker to keep warm. Decided to off the slow cooker past midnight coz fishcake all expanded. Haha! Anyway, I only needed to give it to lil’ one for lunch once she’s reached home.
Lil’ one’s lunch at home. I cooked her udon over the stove while she was in the shower. Transferred into the slow cooker which by now - few hours later - to soak up the pathetic amount of soup left. The soup was lesser 🤣. Oops!

By this day I can finally turn off the rice cooker. Haha! Cooker have been kept on for so long. I never knew this rice cooker shuts down 24hrs later 😬 coz I never kept food inside for so long.
24th Feb (Mon)
Che-che packed extra dishes from last night’s dinner from ToriQ just for today’s lunch. Good idea coz I wasn’t going to wake up to cook for her 🤫. Woke 20mins before she leaves for work to heat up the food for her, went back to bed after that.
x2 shoyu karaage, x1 pirikara karaage, x1 potato, x1 chicken skin (all skewers removed)
Can fit in this bag nicely with a part from the thermos flask. But I guess it will not be kept warm by the time she has her lunch. I can’t fit a Miffy lunchbox and the smallest single thermos flask. Hopefully she’s able to re-heat the food before eating
25th Feb (Tue)
Everything was done in quicker speed as I set my alarm time wrongly 😬. Only 15 mins before che-che needs to leave for work 🤦🏻♀️.
Scrambled egg as what che-che requested, basil pork + rice for che-che (no time for any pics after that) .
Onsen egg and the same dish for lil’ one.
Thank goodness I have this 大火 stove to speed up the steaming.

This is really the easiest, if only I can cook this every bento days. Cook the day before and then into the cookpot until the next morning
Today’s bak bak is porky porky. Trying to use the 瘦肉which according to NTUC staff is 猪腰部 (tenderloin?). Hopefully it turns soft and tender like the 皮蛋瘦肉粥 that we often eat.
And coz the both of them likes porridge “with egg”. Both of them likes my porridge, so make it 3 dishes - 3 mummy’s dishes that the fussy girls can agree with their palate. 我还有一点有用。

Lil’ one - mapo tofu, sukiyaki pork belly
So che-che informed late on Monday night that she’s working from home the next day. Told her to heat up her food herself as I need to go for my tuina after dropping lil’ one in school.
She had mapo tofu and steam rice in the frying pan ready for her to steam. All she needs to do is to start the stove fire and pop this fried cod into the oven to heat up.

12th Mar (Wed)
Packed for che-che only. Lil’ one pontang school so I shall just heat up her teriyaki chicken with the rice I kept aside since Saturday. Menu planning is like that one for lazy people. Officially no need to pack any food for lil’ one until she starts new term in April. Not sure if I’ll continue to pack for che-che.

I think I’m the one who spoils the girls 🤣. Technically I don’t have to prepare lunch for che-che since I’m not preparing for lil’ one’s lunch anymore this term. But still this kapo mother asked her if I should cook extra rice last night for today. Of course she wouldn’t deny any free food right? 🤭 And I will only pack food when she is in the office not the other one. No a-little-fancier dish today coz I’ve cleared whatever small portion/loose ingredients I needed to clear in freezer, she doesn’t want lil’ one’s teriyaki chicken.
Only for che-che.

Only packed for che-che as lil’ one is on school break.
好处是 since the day I started packing for che-che, she helps to wash the container and utensils in the office so I don’t have to do it. She bribed me so I kindda don’t mind packing for her whenever I pack for lil’ one.
I only wanted to cook plain porridge for my dinner last night and asked if she wanted it for her lunch. Then she made me cook egg for her. Sigh….. why am I so kapo?
