Buying tickets

The news on the Ghibli was announced MBS emailer to us (I think) on 24th July and members have special price. ST published it on the papers on 25th July. Date and time was noted on my phone’s calendar. 

However on the day - 29th July, I was busy and totally forgot to throw all housework aside and do my booking 😂. Booked the tickets at 10.24am, 24mins after they open their website for booking. 

Because my first visit will be on a Saturday, I wasn’t sure if the crowd will make photo opportunities difficult. So on 1st Aug decided to book another one tix for myself on a weekday morning, not knowing what time lil’ one needs to be in school for the new term. I was so excited. 

** then some bad news came in end Sep and I’m not sure if I can make it. Days later on 2nd Oct bro asked me if I can accompany mom for her procedure at the hospital on 15th Oct, I gave him the above reason and will let him know asap if I’m needed on this side. Will go over to help mom, but wondering what will happen to lil’ one - how to send her to school? School starts at 1pm for her and I need to settle her lunch before school. 

I totally forgot I had booked the tix for 15th and was going thru my phone’s calendar. Oh oh! Looks like I cannot go for this 😭. This tix would be wasted 🥲. 

The World of Studio Ghibli - 5th Oct

Really tired as wasn’t feeling good since we got back from Korea. Runny nose and coughing but still had to drag myself out of the house.

Future World : Where Art Meets Science

Che-che has been to see this with her friend before, so I’m the only suaku one. 

This installation is nice, only to be marred by some idiot tourists from India. Yay I don’t care I will just name the race here. 

Prior to entering, the staff was telling the whole group (che-che and I happen to be the first in line) not to hold the line. If the light doesn’t light up the time we’re there, just come back and join the line. 

When we were let in, this Indian couple obviously took some pictures prior to us entering (as there was a substantial interval from the time she let the group in and our group) and then re-trace their steps back. I noticed the guy slinged his backpack to the back, the instructions was to put it to the front possible to prevent the bag tangling with the strips of LED lights if it’s behind us. Then they held back the line, we couldn’t move forward coz the idiot guy made his gf to walk again, to pose etc…. The staff must have seen the line being stopped and gave instructions to walk on and not stop. Infact, at that moment I wanted to put up my bitchy “I think the older I get the more enemies I will make” attitude and tell them off. I would have done so if che-che wasn’t with me. 😜

As I came out of the path and the rests followed, the Indian couple ran back in to take pics again. What? Girl also not pretty, take so many pictures for what?! Should take when it’s dim. Why the upped frustration you may wonder. Coz we encountered another Indian family at the Ghibli exhibition doing the same thing. That’s why I bloody don’t care and will name the race - THE INDIANS! 

Anyway, when I walked out of the path I turned around and wanted to take a pic of the installation and unknowingly stood infront of a lady who was waiting for the lights to light up so her companion can help her take a pic. It was only 3 secs when I noticed it, apologised and move out of her way. She was really nice. Afterall it was unintentional.

So what exactly happened inside the Ghibli exhibition? 

We were all queuing up to take pic of Kiki flying over the city, very obedient group of Ghibli fans except for this selfish Indian family. As che-che was in the queue, I went to other props to take pictures then joined her. By then I saw this family taking photos and they were taking up a lot of time. The mother and daughter posed differently, checked pictures and re-took again and again. I lost my patience and sighed “haiyoh! I’m sure I was within earshot distance they could hear me but perhaps they’re deaf? They are a bunch of self-entitled people not caring about the long queue behind waiting. My goodness, if they’re in US they would be asked to F off by the expressive Americans. 

So I was pissed with them taking so long. Che-che has another reason, she said they kept standing for so long talking and not taking any pictures. 

After that she kept rushing me to go faster, perhaps wanting to keep further distance from them. If we’re behind them for every cinematic installation, we will have to wait long again. 

We left the place around 12.20pm and made our way to Orchard to look for work clothes. To be continued in another blog entry. 

Hilarious

Found it so funny when on two days we failed to pick che-che up from work. 

Yesterday, 3rd Oct (Thursday) she ended school an hour earlier at 3pm thus she had time for some studying at home. I thought it’ll be good to give her a short break and asked if she wants to follow me to pick che-che up from work. She gladly took the offer. We walked to the car, sat down and suddenly i remembered maybe hubby is picking her up from work on his way home from office. This is a routine usually on Tuesdays and maybe Thursdays when he goes to show his face in office. Asked lil’ one to check Life360 and we saw him driving towards her workplace. So we left the car and went back home laughing.   

Today, 4th Oct (Friday) I thought I’ll pick her up from work and ask lil’ one if she needed a break. At 5.48pm, I messaged che-che to let her know I’d pick her up. She then informed me she’s already on her way home.

Lil’ one asked for Seorae lunch. They do not have the same lunch offer as before. Everything is more expensive now. 

It came with a big bowl of soup which we can’t finish. Ate the more expensive ingredients in the soup. 

I couldn’t finish my pork so packed home and packed a tteobokki. My dinner is settled! 

The journey with Aveda

I used to only buy the Aveda Suncare hair and body cleanser when the girls took up swimming lessons. Claim to help remove chlorine off, which is what I’m after coz too much chlorine residue on hair will destroy hair. I love this as I only need this for both hair and body, save my swimming barang barang bag.  The smell is nice too! 

Then ….the expensive hair are started when we went to the salon in PP. They recommended that che-che initially has to use the smooth infusion 

and lil’ one has to use this from her damaged hair - rebonding so many times and then colour 

after some time they say it’s better for che-che to use this instead of smooth infusion

of course they recommended that I use this Invati. But no thanks I will stick to my cheap Head & Shoulders shampoo. I’m willing to spend on them but not on self 😂

I always get the huge bottle of shampoo and conditioner of their 2 different range for them. Always buying x2 or x3 bottles each. The $$$ spent is …sigh….不敢讲多了。Lil’ one’s hair needs more care, so I do have to get the serum and leave-in treatment for her as well. I used to buy serums for che-che too. Somehow she end up not using them coz she’s probably as lazy as her mom. Now lil’ one is using it to help her finish them.  

These are the purchases from escentials when I have a special promotion price. I do buy huge bottles of shampoos, conditioners and stuffs from the Aveda shop in Taka if I’m there. Or drop by Aveda in Tampines Mall’s Isetan where I can get my Isetan points as well as CapitaLand stars. In conclusion, it’s alot of money I spent on their hair. How many H&Shoulders I can get for myself at the total price of each purchase? I normally spend more than $350 each purchases in Aveda shops so you can calculate yourself. 

So on Tuesday (1st Oct), I receive a message on a birthday free gift just as I was walking to Popular Bookstore from carpark in TM after lil’ one in school. After spending so much money on their products, I want to take their free gift. Haiyah! Turns out I also cannot use the birthday gift. I do have a $20 voucher for birthday so decided to get her her serum and leave-in treatment. When I took the leave-in-conditioner, the staff showed me a promo box of 2 leave-in treatment for $115 (if I were to get them on its own, it would cost $144). Can save 就 save 吧! But I’ll slowly wean her from using the shampoo and conditioner. Che-che has already used up her nutriplenish range for quite awhile and she decided not to use it anymore. We’ve experimented on a holiday where I didn’t bring her serum and leave-in-treatment and her hair turned lion mane frizzy. Ah…it was the 2022 Japan trip. 

Other trips I packed my H&S shampoo and her serum + LITreatment, and her hair still turn out looking alright.

Crazy right? 2 tubes in this 25cm not so square box. Not environmental friendly.

Freebies

Most times I’m able to get some freebies with the $$$ amount I spent. At least the freebies are in regular size bottles. 

I’ve been given a few bottles of Rosemary Mint body & handwash, Rosemary Mint shampoo, paddle brush, Invanti’s bottles of ?? which I haven’t used at all. 

Other things from Aveda

Apart from hair products, I liked their composition oil. I use them with the guasha on face. Of the two, I prefer stress-fix composition oil as it has lavender and clary sage smell.

“Our Land”

Thought it was hilarious when I noticed why the HOME dropped pin location is in Taiwan. I must have hit a button somewhere before with my fat fingers 😂. What followed next at the bottom of the page made me laughed more.

It was in 2023’s July trip with che-che that we came across this empty space while walking to Kushida Shrine

This is how our plot of land looked like. I have no idea what is written on the board, it’s probably been sold 🤔. 

But che-che and I harboured a thought that that would be our land, she was discussing how she’d build the house. We were that 无聊 

Come July 2024 I told her we should take a look at our land, I had marked that location in 2023. In the end we didn’t coz we spent our time elsewhere. Maybe we should check it out next year. 

Rubbish talk

Was in TM on Tuesday coz I needed to get some CP teriyaki chicken to prep her lunch in one of the days. Came across a Japanese fair at the atrium. Isetan’s Tsukimi Matsuri. 

Warabi mochi drink ($8.50) from Hourando 

Tried this perilla drink, tastes nice but …..sugar added in it. Was surprised when told it’s produced in Kyushu. We didnt see this back in 2022.
