Sausage is back + other ranting

Read in the gossip news the day before that lil’ one’s favourite sausage will be back for retailing in NTUC. I didn’t know so many people I know love their sausage too! 😂

Happened to be in OTH’s NTUC with hubby and I went to find it for lil’ one.

Staff was packing them into the freezer when I was there.

Only bought one pack for lil' one Aricia Ting coz I don't like the ingredients listed. It's $4+ UP per pack now (special price of $3+ for a period of time).

Was it even this expensive before?

Ingredients :

Mechanically Separated Chicken, Water, Corn Syrup, Dextrose, Salt, Flavourings, Sodium Phosphates, Paprika, Sodium Erythorbate, Sodium Nitrite

Just some googling led me to these information :

Dextrose is a normal sugar derived from corn. If it is consumed in large quantities, it can spike the body's blood sugar levels and may increase the risk of several health conditions, such as: Diabetes: People battling any type of diabetes should watch their dextrose intake.

Sodium phosphate can cause serious kidney damage and possibly death. In some cases, this damage was permanent, and some people whose kidneys were damaged had to be treated with dialysis (treatment to remove waste from the blood when the kidneys are not working well).

Who should not take sodium phosphate?

Heart failure. Kidney disease. Seizures. An unusual or allergic reaction to sodium phosphate, other medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives.

Sodium erythorbate is considered safe, but as with all additives, it's possible to have a sensitivity to it and experience side effects.

Sodium nitrate (and its cousin additive sodium nitrite) is a common preservative used in cured meat products including bacon, deli meat, and jerky. It has been linked to the development of heart disease and diabetes. This additive has been cut out from some foods due to these

concerns.

Having been on keto and going so clean on food before, I never understood why my family members refuse to go clean with their food? They feel too much taste is gone? They can’t get used to unsweetened food? They feel that life is short so need to enjoy food? But I must admit going clean with food means a lot of money spent, as what MH says “keto is for the rich people” 🤣
