Why why why?

Why? When I thought I wanted to save money, we have to spend money? 

The master bedroom’s aircon for the second time stopped last night (7/11). The 2 老人家 slept with the fan on, it wasn’t that bad in the room as our room was really cooling before the malfunction. 

The first time it happened was just last Friday morning (1/11) around 6+am. Hubby managed to get the aircon guy down to check on it the same day. Just 2 days before this, the compressor was making a lot of noise behind oblivious to the rest of the family who have hearing problem. I can hear it from my room even though the toilet door is closed. Guy told hubby maybe need to change the whole set? How come things spoil so fast? Only 9 years leh! My Punggol house aircon lasted us beyond the tenants tenancy, only at dunno which year of her tenancy we had to change the whole thing for them. 

Guess when he comes by tomorrow, we will have to listen to what he says again and there’s a high chance we will need to change the aircon and compressors. 

Luckily we had 2 fans in the bedroom, so we can blow directly at ourselves without taking turns feeling cool when the fan oscillates. But ….. I feel like ditching hubby and sleep with lil’ one. She has a pull-out bed in her room. Che-che’s room is too cold for me. 

Hello sunbird

Was ironing clothes when I heard a familiar chirping. 

My friend is back!! So I’ve been calling my friend Mr Sunbird just coz I’ve always attached anything to me as Miss / Ms so decided to call this Mr Sunbird. Turns out it’s female 😳. 

Seeing Miss Sunbird put a smile on me lifting up my mood. Can you come by all the time? 

Sunbirds like this Euphorbia geroldii. Perhaps I should have more plants that attract sunbirds to my home. I surely need their regular visits. 

Miss Sunbird has never touched my adeniums at all. 

Please come by more often. Please give us signals for more happiness, hope, heal our hearts and a change for the better for our family. 🧎🏻‍♀️‍➡️🙏📿

Sigh….. why dai ji liao liao?

Lil’ one has been having this throat irritation since last year, it got worst / on a shorter interval each time. 

The last visit in June, doc was saying there could be a few possibilities. Sometimes could be gut issues, sometimes could be throat issues. 

Today, I brought her to the GP again and he said he can try to get an appointment for us at Sengkang Community Hospital as a subsidised patient or he can give us a letter if we have a private ENT that we want to go. I told him our “ CHAS card is the lowest (used wrong word) category “ couldn’t make the choice then so asked if he can give me the letter first so that I can check with the man. I mean I would have opted for subsidised coz of the things that is happening now. 

As what I know the green CHAS card is useless, not much benefits so I really wonder why hubby applied for the whole family. 

Hubby declined the subsidised, saying we will still end up as private patient still not subsidised. The earliest slot SCH had was 18th Nov so hubby asked me to find ENT specialist in another proper hospital, preferably earlier than 18th. Gave a call back to the clinic to throw the paper away, will look for our own. 

Requested for appointment via HealthHub in TTSH so now waiting for them to return message. Pray it’s nothing at all, it’s false alarm. We have too many bad news recently, I don’t need another. 

Came across this in FB. Couldn’t remember the ENT specialist name until I read the comments - Dr Gerard Chee in Mt E. But no…not going back there, Mt E specialists are expensive

Update on CDC vouchers

Feeling proud and relieved that I’ve finally finished up the June’s Supermarket voucher. It’s easy to use up the supermarket vouchers fast. 

I spent the last $30 in June’s give-out on these. Not much items but coz my family eats expensive fish 🤣. Paid $2+ with the xxxxxx number of link points we have. I could have grabbed more items but we don’t have much space in the freezer + I haven’t planned the menu on what I’m going to cook. My mind is so #%^*!! now.

Still $10 left in here. I have to log in log out, the long anti scam process to move from Jan to June page. So I’ll just use this next time. 

CDC vouchers - trying as hard as I can to use it but not all food courts/stalls accept. I deliberately didn’t cook lil’ one’s lunch today so packed fishball soup from OTH. Anyway, worst come to worst just buy the toothpaste and shower foam from DIY shop, force the girls to have their haircut opposite instead of going all the way to PP Team Salon, do a back massage, ear candling, buy toilet papers. 🤣. Maybe bring lil’ one to the clinic for her sore throat. 

I just bought some cleaning and bleach items on Tuesday and haven’t stored them into the bomb shelter. My bomb shelter is in a huge mess! I need to do stock-taking now. Should be able to have clean body and hair during a zombie apocalypse? That is …only if the water don’t get cut off. 

Adeniums II

After my first recent ranting about the adeniums just two days ago, I finally realised that the third bunch  I thought I saw on the unknown unnamed adenium is actually a branch off Underglaze Red. I have so many pots of adeniums in close proximity 🤣

Lunch is served

Cooked 420g of hor fun. Remember during CB days, always enuf for 3 of them. Today, suddenly left with just settling the girls’ lunch when the man had to go office last minute. I noticed 420g would barely be enough for them 3 if hubby didn’t go back office. 

Lil’ one’s (on HBL) lunch time is from 12 - 1pm. The moment she came out of the room it’s an indication I can heat up the food while she takes a shower. Food on table at 12.12pm

Then che-che’s lunch (WFM today) served at 1.09pm. This kind of heating food at different times is still easy. Just needed to reheat the noodles in frying pan, reheat the gravy and then assemble the plate and pour hot gravy over. 

What’s left for me. 

After her meal, I ate whatever is leftover from che-che’s plate. So yah, 420g of hor fun is definitely not enough if it’s for the 3 of them. 

@ 2.32pm - heated up nonya dumpling to eat. My meals is always 不三不四. Either I have leftovers or not is always dependent on the girls.

These beauties took my mind off things (for awhile) 

Not much growth from Romantic Star. Or are they sprouting leaves and not flowers? I bought these small pots of adeniums (3 or 4 of them) 2 years or more (?) back and only one pot has flowered once. That’s it! Fertilisers and heck care in watering and I don’t see any flowers. So disappointed.

Abit of history first 

Just a few days back when I was telling the family we need to quickly use up the CDC vouchers and was finding ways on how to use up the ‘Hawkers and Heartland Merchants’ vouchers asap. We can use in almost every shop opposite us. Yay! 👍

I told che-che maybe she can log into my Singpass and use the vouchers during her lunch time. She mentioned it’s so troublesome and perhaps “when you send me to work in the mornings, we can go opposite to buy the carrot cake. Sure can use up one.” I responded with a laugh and asked her if she is indirectly asking me to send her to work every morning. 

This evening (3rd Nov)

I went into her room, “ for the girl who wants a free ride to work tmrw…..” She turned n smiled at me 🤣 “what time do you want to leave house?” Then she mentioned she might work from home. Yippee! Sometimes I do pity her and pick her up from work. Haha ! Cannot stop this bad habit lor! 

So happy! 

Feels like CB where everyone is at home. Lil’ one usually has her HBL on Mondays, hubby works from home and now che-che is working from home just today (the first WFH was on 11th Oct) 

Plan to cook Ipoh horfun for lunch. One dish meal. 

** edited on 4th Nov @ last minute hubby needs to go back office when he received a phonecall from office. Sigh….. and I’m worried about him driving.

Dining set

Changing the dining set has been on my mind since last year after the renovation. I had always wanted a SS dining table to match the kitchen. The Queen of Procrastinater 一直拖拖时间.  Checked local furniture shops’ website then realised all of them take their dining set from China!

Last week, looking at how badly the seat has become. Decided I better quickly do it now. Kindda recalled that I did upholster the Cellini dining chairs (when we stayed in Punggol) in Joo Chiat before and maybe can do the same to upholster the 4 chairs and couch. 

Messaged Mxxx for estimate quote to upholster, so that I can decide to upholster or just buy a new set. They promptly came back with their reply. $75/chair in either fabric or PVC, $280 for couch, transport fro and to my home $60 all before GST. In total that adds up to $697.60 😱. I can probably get a whole dining set with 4 chairs for $500++ from Taobao. I couldn’t check with Joo Chiat their price as they didn’t have any website. 

See how easily dirt collects on this material. I kindda gave up cleaning this couch since last year as I wanted to change it. 

All these chairs and table cushiony areas need constant cleaning. Finger marks, dirt etc.. I had to strength clean the chairs as they are all textured prints. See lah! Classy then make myself busy. So doing housework at home is simply not just vacuuming and mopping, lots of all these minor cleaning around the house here and there. 

If I had upholster the chairs, there’s no way I can upholster this table. Simply not worth it, so I didn’t bother to ask them quote for this. 

Che-che don’t like the table, she keeps hitting the base. I don’t hit the base. She did say I have bad taste, the set is so ugly. I think I have classy taste tho.

I like the new japandi tables but it doesn’t match my existing cabinetry. 

This table seems okay but I don’t like the 4 legs that makes the table look so cheap style. Che-che says she hates the one we have, huge base and then food drop below difficult to clean. I asked her if she did the cleaning, I’m always the one cleaning the house so why is she complaining? I do drag the table and chairs out to vacumn and mop every once in a while. 

I can’t select the colour of the legs. I don’t like to have any furniture black and gold except for the piano which we can’t do anything about it

Old folks like me think this is nice but I don’t like the glossy table top. If I wanted to change, I’d change to matte table top

See this? A dining table + 6 chairs plus shipping fees $312.24. No joke! 

Needed to save money so looked for chairs and the compartment couch. A search in Shoppee shows this chair  is selling at $111.82/pc

I only paid $56.26/pc

In total 4 chairs and one compartment couch costs $244.29

I just need to fix them. I don’t think I’m that lousy that I can’t fix the chairs right? Hope nobody falls 😂

I hope the new set can last us a long time. This chair only lasted us for 9 years before all the seam came undone and sponge visible. If not next time I shall just get IKEA plastic chairs 😂. Easy maintenance, then if abit wobbly can just throw. So easy….. 

Another thing I had always wanted to do was to do a wooden decking in PES. That would costs us average $3k? Gasp! 没有钱没有钱！
