🎄Das zweite projekt - part 2 of acting busy

Preparing gebrannte mandeln for her colleagues as Christmas gifts using Thermomix. I’m already feeling my energy draining but I have to stick on to plan coz I bought the almonds last week, didn’t want to keep any at home.

This is so easy to make as gifts, I thought next time I can use haselnüsse and pinienkerne. I forgot hubby bought some from Russia if not I would tried some and see how it turned out.

Using this same recipe but made slight adjustments.

Tell me why wouldn’t I miss Christmas Markets? Everything is just so pretty. The girls’ first Christmas market experience in Sapporo.

In Germany. Everything on sale is just so pretty

Okay back to what I’m was supposed to blog.

8th Nov (Sat)

Started work at 3.38pm
Caramelising can be quite tricky especially for an impatient me, aunty hates to stand infront of the stove, kitchen hot, our Citygas real power I may end up burning the sugar.
This needs constant stirring too.

@ 4.10pm - put the glossy almonds into baking tray. A simple and good snack is almost ready

Really must emphasise that cleaning Ms Thermie Is extremely easy. After the pre-cleaning Ms Thermie is often very clean, I don’t need much effort to clean again with a sponge.

In the meantime, @ 5.13pm weighing to see how much I should put in each bag that is also easy for heat sealing the bags. 50g looks like a decent size.

The almonds look really good. Ownself praise ownself 😂. I will stick to this recipe coz it’s not that sweet, but would more cinnamon powder makes it more oomph?

Weighing, packing, sealing with German Christmas carols. 🤣 kindda have that vorfreude. Ahhhh…I really want to fly to Germany now!

I thought I would get maybe 9 packets from the 400g almonds, instead I got 11 packs. I’m still short of 3 packs for her colleagues so will need to make more the next day.

@ 6.33pm - My kacang puteh packed in a nicer bag. If only I could pack like how they pack in the christmas markets with traditional papiertuute resembling the schultuutethe paper kacang puteh style (unlikely so as I’m not that gangho to prepare things a day before and help pack in the morning she was giving them out)

@ 9.17pm - I have to admit that this wasn’t the original plan how I’d like to pack these almonds.

I wanted to prepare something like this coz I always like to make things move nice (pics taken from lil’ one’s 2012 birthday party favor bags). As you can see this is going to take me a very long time. I need to start measuring everything again as the template is somewhere in the hard disk now, a lot of adjustments here and there to make sure alignment is correct, print samples and try. If it looks ok, then I’ll print out in the 280gsm hard papers.

score the fold neatly. Assemble and have to make sure the staples are above the sealed part.

But this is nice. I always like how the final favor bags looks. Over the years friends kept asking me which small business did this. Haha! It’s done by me. I take that as a compliment.

A lot of work right? So in order to save my own sanity I just did the stickers. @ 9.55pm - All done for today. Time to cook instant noodles for self. I haven’t had my dinner yet! 🤭 And threw che-che’s bedsheet in for wash. See lah! I never give instructions for help, nobody help me at all. Tired!

Back into room at 10.37pm after hanging up her bedsheet and now need to prepare tags for the baking thank you gifts

9th Nov (Sun)

Back from lunch and a trip to NTUC, started work the moment I stepped into the house.

Recipe : accidentally poured too much of sugar. Wanted to continue using the reduced 200g brown sugar but hand coordination was 😆 and poured 211g. Oops!

@ 2.40pm Miss Thermie is working hard

Packing starts at 5.11pm. I don’t cook on weekends soso that’s one job less in need to do. Otherwise I have no idea how I am going to cope.
