How we celebrates

How our family celebrates birthday?

Our birthdays are one after another. First half of the year is quiet then once Sep rolls in we start with lil’ one’s in Sep, mine in Oct and lastly hubby’s and che-che’s in Nov.

The birthday girl/boy gets the (1) choice of food they want to eat. And then we go out to eat for either lunch or dinner the weekend before. Usually only one meal only coz we don’t like to wander the streets or malls now. It gets so boring coz we hardly do any shopping, we all prefer to stay home. So even on normal weekends, we go out for one meal and pack back the next meal. Or sometimes only the man goes out in the morning and pack food for us lazy girls. Cannot blame us, he’s an early bird and he always have the habit of having heavy breakfast outside with tea.

Anyway no pompous birthday celebrations or wasting lots of money, except once we brought che-che to Batam on her birthday. Haha! (Oh! I totally forgot, I brought lil’ one to Korea last year for her birthday coz she asked for it.) we haven’t been buying any presents for the girls for more than 10 years or more, coz they 不缺少 anything. We give them angpows instead.

On the actual birthday itself, we have a (2) cake. Used to be a big cake where we have to cut the cake, but over the years it became using a fork to cut the cake and eat from there 😂. Our cakes just get smaller. Not really cake fans now, used to use macarons, donuts and agar agar or whatever the girls want to eat as a birthday cake.

Are we happy? Of course we are.

Appendix :
(1) our family have cheap taste and cheap choice. We don’t go to hotel buffets as we don’t eat much to make it value for our money. The slightly more extravagant $$$ meal would be seafood, hubby does it when it’s to celebrate my birthday so I can have my chilli crab. But now my stomach don’t agree with spicy food so I find it a waste. The girls may occasionally request for Beauty in a Pot or HDL. That’s it!
(2) hubby doesn’t like chocolate so we buy him a fruit vanilla sponge cake. Hubby knows I love chocolate so he will always buy chocolate cakes for me.
