Not a good solution

Going back to sleep in my room tonight. No more runny nose, still coughing a little. Hope I don’t pass my cough to hubby but I’ve been feeling shit the week after waking up from the sofa.

This has been my sleep arrangement for the past one week with a hot water bag propped between my back and the sofa, offering little relief from the pain. Not a wide space, removing the back cushions will only give me an extra 7cm (?). I sleep on my side mainly so it doesn’t matter. When the right side body aches, I sleep on my back for a while. Although I’m fat I can lie flat on the sofa without falling over (so I’m not that fat afterall 😂). Will sleep on my back until my back aches and then move back to sleeping on my side. I can’t sleep on my left side coz it’ll create pressure on my injured arm and shoulder.

It sure is very uncomfortable on the hard sofa. And this camping outside on the sofa was the solution I could think of.

Reason why I’m doing this
I decided that I should keep myself away from hubby when I’m sick. We sleep in air-conditioned room, so any virus or germs can be passed easily to him. Another reason is more for myself, I can’t sleep in air-conditioned room when I have runny nose, I tend to have difficulty breathing 🤣. I don’t understand why the three of them can continue sleeping in cold room when they have the flu.

What I thought of last time?
1. I sleep in master room while hubby sleeps with lil’ one as there’s a spare bed in her room. BUT hubby snores and she needs to go to school so her sleep is very important.

2. I sleep in che-che’s room and she sleeps in with lil’ one.  Che-che may not have a good sleep coz lil’ one can be crazily studying till 1am. Siao! And then they fight over the light in the room etc..

3. I pitifully sleep alone outside and guard the house. I can use the spare mattress in lil’ one’s room.

Final decision
I shall just bring lil’ one’s mattress out to sleep in living room.

Changed my mind 🤭
Can’t remember when but it was this year I was sick so slept in the living room.

The single-bed mattress was darn heavy and took a lot of 6-point turns out from her room to the living room and back every morning. The problem starts from the bottom bed, I couldn’t even lift the mattress up. That’s what I get from buying good quality mattress. I get so exhausted just bringing out and in the mattress from her room.

It was one of the night when I decided to surf in Shoppee while doing my night shift duty. A foldable mattress sounds like a good idea.

(a) I can buy one thin mattress (like the one mom used to have for 冬菇头 che-che to sleep over) and put it on top of the spare bed. It probably might fit but I’d need to take measurement to reconfirm. However one problem I might face - backache and old bones cracking after sleeping on the hard floor. The thin mattress is similar to the futons we slept on or the thin mattress in dunno which hotel in Japan or Taiwan. My body was aching. So a thin mattress might not be a good solution.

(b) get a foldable mattress. But if the mattress is 10cm thick and triple fold it will be 30cm. The dimension of the mattress will be something like 64cm x 91cm x 10cm. It’s huge! I need a huge space in the messy bomb shelter to store this. I don’t have the space!

I looked at the sofa and asked myself how I can make it a little comfortable? Should I get a thin mattress (but still have to deal with storage issues) and put on the sofa or ….

The final decision
Just get a mattress protector! Easy storage.

Was it a good decision?
My back aching, I don’t think it is 😂. In the meantime just let me crawl to the bed to sleep now. I shall think about this next time
