Next milestone - she's got a job

Not disclosing where but after her job- hunt in June (?), I'm so glad the last 3 months of worry (mainly it's me I think) is finally over. 终于可以放心了。

When did she start her job hunt?

I think she started her job hunt in early June or maybe slightly later since we only arrived back in Singapore end of May.

I must admit I was pretty worried on how long she would take to find a job since the job market is not that favourable to job hunters now. Many jobs now are in contract basis. Gone are the days when jobs are on permanent basis, and you basically leave when you want to leave.

So in the beginning she applied for anything and almost everything from part-time to intern to full-time. Of course ideally is to secure a full time job but the job market is saturated. The part-time jobs asked if she can work full-time, but those are jobs she didn’t really want. Internship offers came but she was at the same time waiting for the full-time job news if she was selected. She wasn’t successful but she also turned down the intern offer. 

The most hilarious thing she did was she and her SIN uni friend were so bored at our home and they both applied for cabin crew. I’m not sure how the whole interview works now BUT she was selected to go for the next stage but her friend wasn’t Her friend is better looking lor …. So I really wonder how they sieve the candidates. 

On 23rd July when she was in Penang with her US Uni friends, she sent this message to me. 

Oh! She did apply for pilot in SQ but they replied to her they don’t need any at the moment. Will she apply again next time? I really have no idea what her path will be like. Guess she has no idea herself too so will take the time to discover herself. 

One holiday after another

When we got back from US, she went to BKK with 2 of her SIN uni friends, she tagged on my last minute FUK trip and then went PEN with her US uni friends. So at a point I was a little upset that she hasn’t started earning but kept spending money. But yah, I get the point from her and friend, S, that she should travel before she start work. Anyway…

Offer

So I’m glad when on the 5th Sep (Thu) at close to 3pm, she messaged to inform that she was offered a job. 感恩观世音菩萨. 

Friends all got job offer after 6 months of looking around, so I should be glad she got hers in 3 months. Or maybe it’s a “she just happen to be there when they needed staff”

For the record, she chose to start work on 23rd Sep, she only have last 2 weeks of freedom when she made the choice on start-date . 

Onward to her next milestone. The 可爱小冬菇头 is finally earning her own $$. 

What to buy?

Asked so many times if she needed to get work clothes but she keeps waving me off. Coz if want to do I need to hurriedly bring her to get clothes before I leave for Korea. Hubby initially thought I was overtly anxious and mentioned that “nowadays work place also casual”. True, there’s no need for suits (but I still like them coz it looks more professional looking.) but she’s a T-shirt and shorts person so she do not have enough work clothes.

On 14/9 hubby asked her if she needed to get shoes. See! we’re even more kancheong then her. She just don’t care. Sigh…. 算了吧！我可以省了这笔钱。

Prepared angpow for her with the amount $388 - 愿她工作升了又发发发. However you want to interpret the 2 gold coins but I didn’t have anymore $2 note 🤣. 

On the eve of my flight (15th Sep), gave it to her together with daddy’s wishes for her.
