The sealers

I do not own a bakery business but I surely do have a lot of rubbish at home. So much preaching from me about decluttering the house. 😂

Just some random yakking about these things I use for the recent bakes packaging. 

THE SEALERS

 If I used this heat sealer >>> 

I will be able to get this kind of sealing. But problem is I’ve used this so many times and I can’t seem to handle this properly, the wrapper end keeps curling up. Then when it gets too hot curls up more, I need to keep switching it on and off while I’m using this. 

instead of this ‘one line’ seal (as shown in below pic). It’s not as nice as the above pic sealed results 

And this kind of ‘one line’ seal comes from this machine that I use

It states there as 5mm sealing width but I don’t get that 😂 (shrink until about 3mm). Probably I lack the practice. This machine is tricky too coz different plastic and different timing. For this cellophane bag I bought from SKP I did some experiments. If I count to 4 I get this (as shown below), if I count to 5 or 6 it gets sealed off as well as torn off 🤣, if I count to 3 nothing is sealed. If I switch the dial different things happening. 

For this material, I managed to get this 4mm and it looks a little nicer than the above bag

This is the original sealed end of the packaging bag. So neat and it measures 5.5mm - 6mm. But I don’t find any heat sealers with 6mm sealing width 

Just being kapo and I found a 8mm sealing width machine. I think with my lousy skills I will get a 7mm sealing width instead 🤣. Nope! I’m not buying at all. They always come up with new things in 淘宝 it’s hard to catch up, moreover I only use this machine once or twice a year. And I also have a vacumn sealer which I can use the sealer function alone. Hmm…. 4 machines at home just for sealing. I’m a hoarder! 

Then I saw a newer machine

The outcome looks like it’s sealed to the edge 👍 of the packet. But it’s really bulky imo 

This machine runs on a roller so all you need to do is to put in on one end near the sealing point and it seals and flies out the other end 😂. Good for those in the production massive baking line. 

THE PACKAGING BAGS

I had to get some bags asap so ran down to a shop. Ranting on the marked up price of food wrappers.  

 I paid S$7.90 for this

but it’s only RMB9.90 approx S$1.81 in 淘宝

I paid $7.50 for this 

in 淘宝 RMB5.33 approx S$0.97

THE THERMAL PRINTER

One can find alot of thermal printers in 淘宝. 

I like this red colour printer so got one about 3.5years ago, bought the existing cream coloured last year when the first one spoilt. 

I could import my own image and do everything on 

my phone and Bluetooth actions. Rather fun, maybe that led to an early demise of the first machine. I usually have no problem with this except when I use the 10mm x 20mm labels. I didn’t like that I often had another side of the labels not printed. Maybe I had to do something with the template? Tore off the clean labels and left it by the fridge holder, I’m sure I will use it to label groceries so it’s not really wasted.

This time the print came out faded when I was using the 10mm x 20mm labels. Google searched how to remedy the faded print, they mentioned that likely using a label from outside is a reason for it, but I could also clean the head with isopropyl alcohol. I was lazy so just simply cleaned and changed to another size 20mm x30mm. Came out nice, so not sure if I had cleaned and re-printed the small labels will I get the same nice ones OR it would still come out faded coz not using original label.  I was simply too tired to re-do the labels and wanted to get the job done ASAP.
