DIY beef patty

Been wanting to make my own patty for quite some time.

I bought this meat patty press a year ago and it was left idling in the cabinet.

A trip to PP NTUC recently where I usually get my beef from reminded me to do something. Not forgetting to check if $5.90 for a 150g patty (it’s grass fed and by Maxzi) is worth saving the money for.

I paid $15.66 for a 524g [$29.90/kg] grass fed beef. For the record I saw a pack of beef in the chiller selling for $11.92 for 336g [$35.50/kg]. Why such a huge price difference? Do note that the weight in all packaging could be lighter as NTUC has the reputation for cheating people on the scales.

My 524g is in actual fact only 516g. They cheated me of 8g. Shame on you NTUC!

My project :

516g mince beef + 2g paprika + 4g himalayan salt + 1g pepper + 2g curry powder

Mixed them up and made them into :
x2 of 150g patty
x1 of 151g patty
and a leftover of 71g which I had for my dinner
Strange? It adds up to 522g.

If I were to 15.66 divide 522 then multiply 150, I’ll get $4.50. Means for the same 150g patty I save $1.40. Is it worth it? I think so, especially now that things are getting more expensive, every little penny matters.

Next project - make chicken and porky patties. It’s so fun
